Tuttio Soleil 01 Foot Brake Kit Install Guide | FactoryZ

FACTORY Z INSTALL INDEX

Read This Before Starting Your Install:

The FactoryZ foot brake kit converts your Tuttio Soleil 01 from a hand-only setup to a real foot brake using a Surron Ultra Bee caliper and a pre-bled master cylinder line. If you've ridden trails or technical terrain and wished you had a rear brake under your right foot, this is the install. It's a straightforward bolt-on job that reuses your stock foot peg and swaps in a dedicated brake bracket, lever, and peg mount.

This guide is for a home mechanic who's comfortable pulling a cotter pin, running an Allen key, and paying attention to how the master cylinder pin lines up with the lever. That last part is the one thing riders tend to get wrong on this install. If the master isn't aligned straight to the lever push direction, you'll bottom the piston against the housing and blow the master on your first ride. We'll cover exactly how to set it right.

Expect a clean install with no bleeding required, since the line and master come pre-bled from FactoryZ. When you're done, you'll have a properly aligned foot brake driving an Ultra Bee caliper, a stock-feeling peg back in place, and a Tuttio that stops the way it should.

Tools Needed:

  • 4mm Allen key
  • Needle nose pliers (for cotter pin)

Install Steps:

  1. 01

    Remove the stock foot peg

Pull the cotter pin out of the foot peg pin. Slide the pin out. The spring will pop off with it, so keep track of the parts. Set the peg and spring aside, you'll reuse them later.

  2. 02

    Remove the foot peg bracket

With a 4mm Allen key, remove the two bolts holding the stock foot peg bracket to the frame. Keep the bracket, it goes back on with the new foot brake bracket.

  3. 03

Mount the foot brake bracket to the frame

Grab the two long bolts from the kit, the stock bracket you just removed, and the new foot brake bracket. Start one bolt through the bracket stack and into the foot brake bracket, then line it up to the frame and thread it in a few turns. Don't snug it yet. Line up the second bolt, feel the threads, and thread it in. Once both bolts are started, snug the first bolt down fully, then fully snug the second.

  4. 04

    Install the return spring

Hook one end of the spring into the small hole on the bracket. Route the other end into the matching hole from the back side so the spring is under tension and ready to return the lever.

  5. 05

Mount the master cylinder to the bracket

Bring the pre-bled master cylinder line with the Surron Ultra Bee caliper over to the foot brake assembly. The kit includes four button head bolts. Use the two longer button heads for the master cylinder. Start the bottom bolt, line up the master, then start the top bolt. Leave both loose for now so you can adjust alignment in the next step.

  6. 06

Align the master cylinder pin to the lever (do not skip)

This is the step most people get wrong. Look at the master cylinder pin and the lever pivot. If the pin sits at an angle to the lever's push direction, pressing the brake will drive the piston into the housing wall and blow the master on your first ride. To set it right, push down on the lever, hold it there so the pin naturally seats straight in line with the master, then tighten the two master cylinder bolts down. Confirm the pin and lever are perfectly in line before you call it done.

  7. 07

Install the peg on the brake lever

Grab the two short button head bolts from the kit and the new peg. Bolt the peg onto the end of the brake lever.

  8. 08

Reinstall the stock foot peg with the spring

Set the spring over the stock foot peg so the small tab of the spring catches and holds in place. Push the peg into the bracket with a little force to compress the spring, then drop the pin in through the top. Always run the pin in from the top, never from the bottom. If the cotter pin ever backs out, a bottom-fed pin will fall through and you'll lose the peg.

  9. 09

Install and bend the cotter pin

Slide the cotter pin through the foot peg pin and bend the legs around to lock it in place. Give the lever and peg a quick function check before you ride.

Common Mistakes:

  • Tightening the master cylinder bolts before aligning the pin to the lever.

Leave both master cylinder bolts loose, press the lever down so the pin sits straight in line with the master, then tighten. Confirm alignment visually before final torque.

  • Installing the foot peg pin from the bottom up.

Always drop the pin in from the top. If the cotter pin ever backs out, a top-fed pin stays put. A bottom-fed pin falls through and you lose the peg on the trail.

  • Fully tightening the first frame bolt before starting the second.

Start both long bolts through the bracket stack and get them threaded into the frame before snugging either one. Then tighten both down fully.

  • Losing the foot peg spring when pulling the cotter pin.

The spring pops off with the pin. Pull the cotter pin over a clean workspace and keep the spring bagged with the peg and pin until reinstall.

  • Forgetting to seat the spring tab when reinstalling the stock peg.

Set the spring over the peg so the small tab catches and holds against the bracket before you push the peg in and drop the pin through.

FAQs

Do I need to bleed the brake after installing this kit?

No. The master cylinder and line come pre-bled from FactoryZ, so you can bolt it on and ride.

What caliper does this kit use?

It uses a Surron Ultra Bee caliper paired with the pre-bled master cylinder line included in the kit.

Why does the master cylinder pin alignment matter so much?

If the pin sits at an angle to the lever, pressing the brake pushes the piston into the housing wall instead of straight into the master. That will blow the master cylinder, often on the first ride. Aligning the pin straight to the lever push direction is the fix.

How do I align the master cylinder correctly?

Leave the two master cylinder bolts loose, push the brake lever down so the pin naturally sits in line with the master, then tighten the bolts while holding that position.

Which way does the foot peg pin go in?

Always from the top down. If you install it from the bottom and the cotter pin ever comes loose, the pin will drop out and you'll lose the peg. Top-fed means gravity keeps it in place.

Do I reuse any of my stock parts?

Yes. You keep the stock foot peg, its spring, the pin, and the original foot peg bracket. The bracket sandwiches with the new foot brake bracket using the long bolts from the kit.
